Robert "Brett" Mercer
Dear Sparta Community,
My name is Robert Brett Mercer, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for a three-year position on the Sparta Board of Education. With my wife and five beautiful children, our roots run deep through this community. I have a passion for youth development through sports and a professional background in engineering and commercial building. I am committed to contributing to the growth and success of our schools.
Having lived in Sparta for over 14 years, I have had the privilege of witnessing the unique strengths and potential of the community. My involvement has been extensive, from participating in local events to volunteering for various initiatives. This has given me a profound appreciation for the values and aspirations that drive our Spartan community forward.
One of my most rewarding experiences has been coaching youth sports. Over the past 14 years, I have coached various Sparta teams in soccer, football, baseball and basketball teams, working with children of all ages. This role has allowed me to mentor young athletes, instill teamwork and discipline, and foster a sense of achievement and confidence in our youth. I believe that the lessons learned on the field are invaluable and translate into academic and personal success.
Professionally, I have built a successful career as a commercial builder. My work involves overseeing the design and construction of complex projects, coordinating with community leaders, managing budgets, and ensuring that all stakeholders are aligned towards a common goal. These skills are directly transferable to the responsibilities of a Board of Education member, where strategic planning, resource management, and collaborative decision-making are crucial.
I am dedicated to working tirelessly to ensure that our schools provide the best possible education and opportunities for our children. I humbly ask for you to support the MAKE SCHOOLS GREAT candidates and vote in the upcoming election.
