Meet Clifford Cernek
My fellow Spartans,
My name is Cliff Cernek and I am seeking a 3 year seat on the Sparta Board of Education. I do not seek this for personal agenda nor to pick fights, but to achieve what we all want: a solid and excellent education for our children.
For the past 19 years, I am the luckiest guy in the world to be the husband to my wife Karen and father to the world’s two best children. My wife and I came to Sussex County 18 years ago and have been in Sparta for the past 12 years. I grew up as a Cougar from Cresskill, NJ. But now, like all of you, I am proud to call myself a Spartan.
My entire life has been about service; I have been a volunteer Firefighter and EMT. I have volunteered in these capacities for 40 years. I have been a Sparta Volunteer EMT for the past 10 years. I have been employed as a 911 dispatcher, first in Cresskill during the late 1980’s through the mid-2000 and here in Sparta since 2017. I have also worked in mortgage finance for 20 years.
On September 11, 2001, and for several weeks after, I was one of the first responders that was in NYC at Ground Zero. What I remember most about that period and other times of great tragedy is how we came together as a people and became unified.
We need to focus more on the education our children need to succeed once they leave Sparta and spend less time fighting over the policies that divide and alienate us from each other.
If elected, I will do all I can to earn the trust and bring honor to your seat.
I make this compact with the Sparta Community: I am beholden to no one, except God, my wife, and children.
I will seek relationships with anyone who shares the goal of a better education for our kids. I won’t do it from behind a keyboard, but instead face to face over a cup of coffee or sitting down for a meal.
Our Superintendent, Administrators, Teachers, and support staff deserve respect and support and from me, respect and support they shall have.
To be clear; I don’t see a town of adversaries and enemies; I see neighbors and friends I can be of service to, listen to and learn from.
Together we can Make Schools Great!
